How Bruce Lee Changed the World

So it was another day at the tv station where I work and I was perusing youtube trying to kill some time. I stumble across a trailer for a show on the History Channel and it was about Bruce Lee. If you know me, I am a HUGE Bruce Lee fan and not because he was a kick ass martial artist, but because he single handedly inspired a generation of Asian Americans and beyond. I proudly strut my yellow Bruce Lee shirt with the word "respect" printed right below a picture of him with his infamous stare. Now back to the program.

The piece shows interviews of people from various backgrounds in various industries talking how Bruce Lee influenced their lives and careers. Bruce Lee influenced filmmakers such as Brett Ratner and Ang Lee; Bodybuilders and actors; the mixed martial arts community. He became a cult legend and continues his influence around the world. How can one man, a 5 foot 7 inch Asian man in the 1970's change and continue to change a stigma about Asian males for years to come? His philosophy for life was simple. It takes courage and resilience. You can't change people with your fist. If teach people the beauty of that strange thing then they are no longer afraid because it's become part of them. I highly recommend watching it, you might learn something new about the man.
